Upon entering the office, you will be provided with a few forms to complete. This paperwork provides the Doctor with general information about yourself and your overall physical condition.
Consultation
Once the paperwork has been completed, you will meet with Dr. Rapoff to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.
History and Examination
In order to determine the extent of your problem, the doctor will ask you variety questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized orthopedic and neurologic tests will be performed to determine what tissues are affected and to what extent. Physiotherapy is normally performed on the patient during the first visit (if it is appropriate for the condition). Manipulation may or may not be performed initially depending on the acuteness of the complaint.
X-ray Studies
Your specific condition may require an x-ray examination either rule out other conditions and assist the doctor in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. For your convenience, routine x-ray examinations can be performed in this office.
Treatment
If Dr. Rapoff feels that he can help you, he will then proceed with your treatment. There may be a discussion about what type of care you would like to persue. The choice of the type of care, Relief or Corrective Care, is made by you. Following your decision, you will be provided with an additional treatment, most often including spinal manipulation, physiotherapy, and/or soft tissue therapies. Insurance coverage and financial arrangements are also discussed with the office manager on this visit so the finances and costs are never a mystery.
Home Instructions
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.
